As an author, I love to know what inspires writers, so I thought I'd share my inspiration for Coral Holiday, the new third book in my USA Today bestselling series, Coral Cottage. In Coral Holiday, the Delavie-Moore family pitches in the help Kai cast Summer Beach's first theater production in a new outdoor amphitheater–one based on A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. This idea came to me while I was unpacking from my recent move when I discovered a box of my childhood books my mother had saved for me to share with my granddaughter. I grew up with this copy of A Christmas Carol. Inside is an inscription from my great-grandmother, whom everyone called Mama Beh (because the little ones couldn't pronounce her name–and it stuck). She signed it to my mother, Jeanne, who was 12 at the time in 1938. It's a bit tattered because it has been well-loved, but the pages are all there and the illustrations are lovely.
